Oops! Where have I been?

I know, I suck at updating this blog.  But look!  My friend Josie (8-Bit Grayscale, check it out!) nominated me for this award!  Sweet!  Thanks Josie!

So, rules are that I have to give seven random facts about myself and then pass the award along to blogs that I think are great.  Here goes...

1.  I got engaged for the first time when I was 17.  Really glad that marriage never happened!  Haha.

2.  I met my husband when I was 15, but we went our separate ways after a few months and didn't see each other or talk for nearly 5 years.  We re-connected when I was 20 and got married when I was 22.

3. My husband was hospitalized with septic shock syndrome and nearly died when we were still dating.  I realized I was in love with him when a doctor told me to leave the trauma room because he might not make it and I shouldn't watch.  It crushed me to think I would never see him again (and of course I stayed there with him, and he made it!).

4. Our wedding was peacock themed.  If I ever get a tattoo, I want to get two peacocks on my back.

5. I have never met my father and it doesn't bother me at all.  My mother and grandmother did an excellent job raising me and giving me all the love I needed as a child.

6. I have been wanting to be a mother since I was 14 or 15 years old.

7. I talk in my sleep constantly and suffer from night terrors fairly regularly.  Doesn't help my insomnia which I've also struggled with for over a decade now.

I'm planning on making red velvet brownies for Mr. H for Valentine's Day (or the day before).  He's not big on sweets, but he really likes these brownies and so do I.  I use this recipe, minus the frosting.  I sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the brownies instead.  I'm going to go buy a heart shaped cookie cutter so I can make them extra special and cheesy!  We are going on a mini vacation to the city after I get off work on Tuesday, since Mr. H has the 14th and 15th off.  Finally!  I took Wednesday off so we can have a whole day to hang out and enjoy the bay.  We booked a room at this cute place called Hotel Tomo, which is in Japan Town.

I've stayed here once before and I really enjoyed it.  Great service and very clean guestrooms!  Not to mention, the decor is absolutely adorable.  The other plus to staying here is the location.  One of my favorite Korean bars, Playground, is right across the street, so we can drink as much as we want and don't even have to pay cab fare.  We're really looking forward to next week and spending some time together.  Do you have any plans for Valentine's?

    1. Aww thanks! I'd hardly call it incredible and interesting though. Hahaha. It is a pretty standard, day-to-day life to me. :P And yes, just checked out your blogged and followed. Cute style! :)

  2. Wow!! Ohhhhkay I hope you don't take this the wrong way!! But was the first guy Jonni?? The trouble maker! lol

I think it's CRAZY how you guys met when you were 15 and met up again.. I love -love stories- like that! That made my heart fuzzy and melt, hehe.

What do you do for your insomnia? I have a bit of trouble sleeping myself but I don't think I have insomnia. I could still use tips though, if you have any!

I really hope you take photos of inside your room! Those photos look amazing!! Okay I hope you take a TON of photos! I haven't been to the city in quite some time, especially Japan town.

Unfortunately for me I have school on Tuesday (including a test!) and we haven't made plans or anything. We're an old boring couple now, lol Maybe get a pizza and watch netflix lol

    1. LOL! Noooo, definitely not Jonni. I was only 13-15 when I was with him, and we never got engaged. Such a loser.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy. It still blows my mind sometimes. When it first happened, all of my friends were like no way, that guy from way back when?! :)

I've pretty much accepted my insomnia at this point in life. The only thing I haven't tried is prescription sleeping pills like Ambien, because I don't want to become dependent on something like that. I've taken them a couple times when I was desperate for sleep, just to see if it worked, but I refuse to get a prescription. They work like magic though! I take a 5mg melatonin, which is a natural sleep aid that you can buy at WalMart or any drug store, every night, but it is hit or miss. A lot of people I know say it works really well for them. It worked pretty well for me for the first month or so, but I still have plenty of super restless weeks.

Don't worry, I will be taking plenty of photos! :) Which reminds me that I need to find my digital camera this weekend. I misplaced it after our honeymoon.

Pizza and netflix sounds like an awesome Valentine's to me! :) As long as you get to spend time together, I'm sure it'll be wonderful.

    2. Oh good! haha Jonni.. When I first met him he told me his eyes were GREEN-BROWN! Shane was like "uh.. that's not a color" and I had to listen to them debate whether or not it was a color for about 20 min. lol

Have you tried things like warm milk or lavender tea? I have not but I "hear" it works.. who knows! And good on you for not getting a prescription for ambien! When I was playing a lot of online video games, half the people I knew were using that for sleep or depression.. It was so difficult to kill big bosses when half my guild was messed up and falling out their chairs or drooling on themselves lol And they would never have any recollection of it all. It was frustrating sometimes lol
